Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering at The Blood Center of Iowa is a great way to get involved in your community! The Blood Center depends on volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks, all of which support the vital mission of savings lives by creating access to a safe blood supply.
By volunteering your time, you will be part of the organization that is responsible for collecting, testing and distributing more than 100,000 units of blood each year. As a volunteer, you can take pride in knowing that your time is well spent and that your contribution will impact the lives of hundreds of people every day.

Primary Volunteer Positions
- Office Assistant: file paperwork, photocopy publicity and help with special mailings.
- Promotions Assistant: Process and fill promotional gift orders and help with preparations for special events.
- Materials Management Assistant: Stock shelves, distribute supplies and help maintain supply inventory.
- Shuttle Driver: Transport blood from blood drives to the laboratory and/or deliver blood and supplies to hospitals and other blood center locations.
- Community Events Representative: Interact with the public and provide information about blood donation at health fairs and special events.
- Blood Drive Representative: Serve refreshments and monitor donors after their donation.
